PARENTS

This page is intended for parents who have lost a child. We are so saddened about the loss of your child and we hope we can offer you some guidance, comfort and support.

It may feel as if the world around you continues and yet everything feels different. Time may be forever marked as before the death and life after. While others may have returned to their “normal” lives, there is probably a realization that your life may never feel “normal” again. You and your family now have the challenge of finding a way to feel hope and joy again while living with the pain of the death of a child.

While grief does not have a timeline, there are opportunities to heal, and remember. Most parents find that their pain lessens with time, and that it is okay to have good times and experience joy again.  It’s also okay when bad days come unexpectedly. Grief is a very personal journey.  We hope you can remember your child with deep love and be able to appreciate the gift of his or her life.

The following pages can help guide you through the trajectory of grief, giving practical advice, offering choices and sharing the wisdom of others who have walked this path.
